Message from the President
The past years have been fruitful in the field of Science and Technology and it made us more fervent that Microbiology is now among its eminent developing areas. Undeniably, Microbiology abets and complements the minds of scientists in other fields leading to more multidisciplinary achievements; most remarkable is its role in health and medicine. The 44th Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting of the Philippine Society for Microbiology aim to convey timely topics with its theme Microbiology: Providing Solutions in Health and Medicine. In this convention, we hope that the habitual notion for microorganisms as contaminants or disease-causing agents evens out to their potential as keys, be it direct or indirect, in resolving health or related challenges. We have invited experts who will deliver talks on various topics that will make us appreciate and comprehend diseases and problems caused by microorganisms. With that, we hope to encourage aspirants to contribute in responding to the challenges that we are now facing. It should not always be a battle between humans and microorganisms. To stress the theme, we welcome the idea of exhausting microorganisms and the technologies developed today as tools in affording resolutions to problems that they may cause –that when we talk about microorganisms, it should not always be about controlling them. We hope that this convention will inform the community of the grander role of microorganisms in our daily lives. We encourage you to join and participate in this convention as its focus is well-timed and significantly affects us all.
Mabuhay ang PSM!
