Description
The Philippine Society for Microbiology, Inc. (PSM) is an organization that aims to promote scientific knowledge in the field of Microbiology and other related fields. The organization conducts various activities such as workshops, publications, hosts a bi-annual symposia and an annual conference.The organization also gives subsidies to those individuals that meet the requirements set by the organization depending on which grant they are applying for.
Establishment
The organization was established on October 14, 1971 by some senior faculty members of the College of Agriculture , University of the Philippines at Los Baños, College, Laguna 4031. It is a non-stock, non-profit corporation with SEC Registration Number 56-003-499-199-NV
Objectives
The Philippine Society for Microbiology (PSM) is dedicated to advancing the field of microbiology in the Philippines and serving as the leading source of knowledge and expertise in this discipline. To achieve this goal, we will work towards the following objectives:
- Promotion of scientific knowledge in microbiology and related fields through workshops, symposia, trainings, reports, and publications.
- Stimulation of scientific investigations and advancement in the frontiers of microbiology and allied fields.
- Contribution to the development of education in microbiology through the sharing of knowledge and resources.
- Recognition and accreditation of members in different specialized fields of microbiology, highlighting their contributions and expertise.
Through these efforts, we aim to be the premier organization for promoting and advancing the field of microbiology in the Philippines, and to foster a thriving community of professionals dedicated to improving our understanding of this important discipline.
