PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE XI OF THE PSM CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO ARTICLE XI (THE MICROBIOLOGY CONSORTIUM OF THE PHILIPPINES) OF THE PSM CONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS

CURRENT PROVISIONPROPOSED AMENDMENT/S
 Section 1. There should be a capacity building arm of the Society to be called the Microbiology Consortium of the Philippines (MCP)No amendment
 

Section 2.  Its objectives as the capacity building arm are to complement / supplement the activities of the PSM as follows :

a.            Provide the expertise needed for trainings, seminars, workshops, and conferences in microbiology education;

b.            Facilitate arrangement between and among member Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the sharing of manpower and other resources;

c.            Assist member HEIs access scholarship/fellowship/research/ extension grants;

d.            Provide expert assessment of microbiology capabilities and on other microbiology-related issues to member HEIs; and

e.            Promote academe-industry partnerships in microbiology training and research

 

Its objectives as the capacity building arm to complement / supplement the activities of the PSM are as follows :

Section 3. Membership to the MCP is open to all HEIs in the country open to all that will signify their intention by signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).Membership to the MCP is open to all HEIs in the country that have an existing Microbiology program / course offering or have the intent to offer and signify their intention by signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
Section 4.  The MCP will be governed by a Council composed of a : Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Regional Coordinators, PSM Microbiology Education Division Representative, and PSM President
(ex- officio). The members of the Council will be appointed by the PSM President in consultation with the PSM Board and the current MCP Council. The appointed members of the Council, except for the PSM President and the Microbiology Education Division Representative, shall hold office for a term of three (3) years.
The MCP will be governed by a Council composed of a : Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Public Relations Officer, Regional Coordinators, PSM Microbiology Education Division Representative, and PSM President (ex-officio). Except for the PSM President and the PSM Microbiology Education Division Representative, the members of the Council shall be elected in a general assembly meeting of all member HEIs. The elected members of the council shall hold office for a term of three (3) years on a staggered basis so that each year new members shall be elected to replace the ones with the expired term.

A Liaison Officer  shall be appointed by the MCP Chair.

 

 

Section 5.  The MCP Council Chair shall submit a written report of its activities and financial statement every year.The MCP Council Chair shall submit a written report of its activities and financial statement at least 2 weeks before the PSM Annual Convention and Scientific Meeting every year.
