Please take the time to read and examine the proposed amendment to the Constitution, particularly the inclusion of the Microbiology Consortium Committee.
The amendment shall take effect should the majority of the members vote in favor of proposal during the general assembly on July 18, 2019 (Article XV – Amendments, PSM By-Laws)
INSERTION OF ARTICLE XI AND ADJUSTMENT IN THE NUMBERING OF THE SUCCEEDING ARTICLES:
ARTICLE XI – THE MICROBIOLOGY CONSORTIUM |
Section 1. There should be a capacity building arm of the Society to be called the Microbiology Consortium (MC).

Section 2. Its objectives as the capacity building arm are to complement/supplement the activities of the PSM as follows: a. Provide the expertise needed for trainings, seminars, workshops, and conferences in microbiology education; b. Facilitate arrangement between and among member Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the sharing of manpower and other resources; c. Assist member HEIs access scholarship/fellowship/research/extension grants; d. Provide expert assessment of microbiology capabilities and on other microbiology-related issues to member HEIs; and e. Promote academe-industry partnerships in microbiology training and research.

Section 3. Section 3. Membership to the MC is open to all HEIs in the country that will signify their intention by signing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Section 4. The MC will be governed by a Council composed of a: Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Regional Coordinators, PSM Microbiology Education Division Representative, and PSM President (ex-officio). The members of the Council will be appointed by the PSM President in consultation with the PSM Board and the current MC Council. The appointed members of the Council, except for the PSM President and the Microbiology Education Head, shall hold office for a term of three (3) years. |
Section 5. The MC Council Chair is required to submit a written report of its activities and audited financial statement every year. |
