PAM Accreditation Examination for Registered Microbiologist

The accreditation examination for Registered Microbiologists will be given on December 5 & 6, 2009 (Venue: National Library, Manila)

All qualified PSM members may apply. Please submit the following to the Accreditation Board c/o PAM Secretary, PSM Office, 2nd Floor EC Arcade Demarces Farmville, College, Laguna 4031.

Accomplished application form (please download from the PSM website http://www.philsocmicro.com or available at BIOTECH, UP Los Banos c/o Dr. Lorele C. Trinidad).
Transcript of records or true copy of grades
Proof of PSM membership
One recent 2×2 photo
Minimum Eligibility Requirements for Applicants: at least 24 units of Microbiology, 15 units of Biology, 16 units of Chemistry, 6 unitsof Physics and 3 units of Mathematics.

Applicants who pass the preliminary evaluation by PAM Accreditation Board shall be notified by the PAM Secretary. The examination fee is PhP 1,000 to be paid (to the PAM treasurer Ms. Olivia C. Emata of DTRI, UPLB or through the PAM Savings Account at MetroBank Los Banos Branch SA# 483-3-485-16719-7) before the first examination day.

All qualified applicants must bring to the examination venue the official receipt of examination fee/bank payment slip, valid ID and no. 2 Mongol pencil.

Brock Biology of Microorganisms by Madrigan, Matinko and Parker, 9th or 10th Edition.
Microbial Ecology by Atlas and Barhta, 1997
Electives:
Food Microbiology
Medical Microbiology
Modern Food Microbiology by Jay, 1996~2004
Jawetz, Melnick and Adelberg’s Medical Microiology by Brooks, Butel and Morse, 22nd edition
N.B. Microbial Genetics is not included in the required examination area this year, but will be included in the succeeding examination schedules.

All successful examinees shall be notified by mail/email. The list of new Registered Microbiologists shall be posted in the PSM website. New Registered Microbiologists must pay the accreditation fee of PhP 1,000 and apply for the PSM life membership (if not a life member yet) prior to taking oath. Oath must be taken within one year from the examination date.

Qualification for Upgrading from Registered to Specialist Microbiologist

Must be a Registered Microbiologists with:

MS or Doctorate degree in Microbiology or related field
At least 4 years experience (within the last 7 years)

Nomination form for upgrading to Specialist Microbiologist
Proof of PSM life membership
Transcript of records or true copy of grades
One recent 2×2 photo
Proof of work experience
Certificate of Attendance to any PSM/Microbiology –related activity
Application shall be notified by mail on the results of the evaluation by the Accreditation Board though the PAM Secretary. New Specialist Microbiologist must pay an Accreditation Fee of PhP 1,000 prior to taking the oath.
